The Death of Saddam
A few days ago I posted some quick thoughts about the botched execution of Saddam Hussein. Now Charles Krauthammer and Christopher Hitchens weigh in.
Oddly enough, the last two agree with each other! And with me, more or less. Most be some kind of harmonic convergence.

I am not sure that is so odd. The execution did nothave the appearance of dispassionate justice but of revenge. Understandably so, Hussein was a monster, but revenge is for individuals not governments. I would think most would agree with that.

That's not, in my view, the worst aspect of it. If a mob had pulled him out shortly after capture and killed him, that would have been one thing. But when the governments handpicked reps start screaming support for Moqtada al-Sadr, the US has to reconsider the gov't it is supporting.
And the Sunni are turning the monster into a martyr.
