Just why is this photo here? (Not that I don't like it.) Does it have a purpose that I am missing? Is there some meaning that I am don't get?

Is it an offering to the only Winnipegger who reads your blog?

There's still lists of many of those men's names in churches and on monuments around here... those that served and those that died.

Elliot got it right, Old Man. As the official Winnipegger here I thought he might appreciate the picture. I found it on a site that had lots of colored pictures from WW I and I was fascinated by them. So I picked one to display.

In France every little town had a monument to les enfants de France who died in WWI. Every little town. And they all had lots of names on them.

Hey! I just remembered. Anactoria used to read this blog. Wasn't she a Winnipegger too?

(she even appreciated my sense of humor, Lil Sis)
