Special note of self-congratulation

With that last post Sententiae went over the 1000 post mark. Don't know why that is important other than the fact that our Proto-Indo-European ancestors noted that we had ten fingers and invented the decimal system, but there it is.

think I'll go have a cognac and think about it.

Clever proto Indo-European! But how do you explain the Sumerians and their six-based number system? 360 degrees in a circle, 60 minutes in an hour... Even my kids realize these are weird.

Oh yes, and congrats by the way! We'll cheer louder at post 1002 (divisible by 6)

Coming right up! (on executive pay, my favorite bete noir)

My theory is that the Sumerian number system is obvious proof that Eric van Daniken was right and 6 fingered aliens taught the Sumerians everything they knew.

While those PIE people were still hanging out in bogs around the Euxine Lake counting fingers.
