Pickens and Wind: the movie
Here is a clearer presentation of T Boone Pickens' plan for replacing the natural gas component of our electrical power with wind power. For an old guy, he makes a great presentation in front of the class.
so there 's hope for me yet.

At least there is someone making a connection between alternative energy and gas prices. McCain and Obama both spout off that we need alternatives (McCain throws out nuclear) to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.
Guess what? Unless you have electric cars (PHEV-Plugin Hybrid Electric Vehicles), all the alternative energy in the world doesn't do anything.
Personally, I think the infrastructure changes would be easier for PHEV than to run natural gas to gas stations.

I think you are right about the plug ins. Chevy is swearing up and down that they are going to be producing and selling the Volt, a genuine plug-in hybrid by 2010. Hmm. Looking at that date I realize that Asimov and Heinlien thought we would be driving rocket cars on the Moon by now, but I'll settle for a decent PHEV.
In the meantime we should be building nuclear power plants, solar banks and wind farms. The technology is there, and god knows the oil giants have plenty of money to invest in alternate energy.
ps: what happened to your little picture?
What happens is...
blogger and google are tied together
I have to google addresses, one is joe(y)7f_at_gmail_dot_com and the other is joe.lastname@gmail.com
I kept them apart so I would show up as "Joey" when I respond to blogs, but my full name when I respond to friends or colleagues.
When I am logged on my legit gmail acct, it is easier for me to type in Joey as a nonmember, rather than sign my gmail out and resign in. Usually when you see me logged into my other one (the little photo being present) I am updating the blog or not logged in to my gmail acct.
