Those Catalans and World Cup Fever
My favorite ... uh, inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula.
"Even the Catalan papers revelled in the victory, perhaps won over by the fact the victorious side featured seven Barcelona players."
[from CBS Sports]
You know something exciting is happening if the Catalans go wild over the Spanish team.
some Hispanics are more Hispanic than others.

The real question is are the Euskedi basquing in the victory?

Good pun.
As puns go.
Once, when working for the giant computer giant Control Data, they had big plans for releasing their latest giant computer.
With great fanfare and publicity they named it the ETA!
When I remarked, "Gee, I guess we've given up on the Spanish market" everyone looked at me as if I had spoken in, well, Basque or something.
By contrast, the residents of Padania (or at least Radio Padania, who supposedly speak for Padania) were cheering when the Italian national team was down 1-0 to Paraguay.
Victory has a thousand fathers, but defeat is an orphan.
Oh, those Padanians. They're still sore over the Renaissance.
Or maybe it was the war of the Sicilian Vespas.
All those little scooters with Almogavers on them, or something.
